Decision analysis

The complete LOOI system includes a phone, even when the store price does not.

LOOI Solo costs $239, but the product is not complete without a compatible smartphone. That can be an advantage when an older supported phone is already available: the phone provides a high-quality screen, camera, microphone, network connection, and computing platform. It can also make LOOI more expensive than EMO if a suitable phone must be purchased.

EMO's $279 standard package includes the robot, skateboard charger, and smart light. The optional Home Station raises the cost if automatic charging matters, but the basic character experience is self-contained.

LOOI's base can turn, move, follow activity through the phone camera, and react around a desk. Its large screen face is visually flexible, and the base doubles as a wireless charger. The size and weight of the attached phone, case, camera position, and magnetic alignment all influence the result.

EMO has a smaller built-in face and a more character-specific body. Its independent walking, dances, sound-direction response, foot sensors, and face recognition create a stronger impression of a small creature occupying the desk. That movement also requires a clear bounded surface.

LOOI inherits the permissions and security state of the attached phone. TangibleFuture says raw voice may be sent to contracted cloud AI for direct processing and that conversation and memory data can remain in cloud storage until deleted or the account is closed.

EMO combines its own camera, face records, photos, four microphones, app, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and online services. Neither choice is privacy-free.
