HipMount / For Loona ↗

A clearer repair path for a Loona that cannot move normally.

HipMount is a proposed repair kit for a specific, confirmed Loona hip-mount failure. The idea is to match a replacement mount to the right hardware revision and provide a simple alignment aid for a qualified repairer. It has not been built or tested and is not for sale.

  • Match the right revision
  • Replace a confirmed failed mount
  • Keep a repairable Loona in use

Sound familiar?

When a leg stops moving, guessing at parts is frustrating.

A Loona that tips, drags a leg or grinds may need attention, but those symptoms can have different causes. A loose or cracked mount is only one possibility. Before buying anything, an owner needs to know whether official service, an existing part or a new repair kit is the right route.

If a compatible out-of-warranty mount failure is confirmed, a future HipMount pack could bring the matched structural part and a small positioning aid together. The goal is less part-guessing and a more repeatable repair for an experienced technician, with the robot tested after assembly.

Designed with your day in mind

Designed to make the right repair easier to plan.

These are goals for a future kit. No fit, durability or successful repair has been demonstrated.

01

Buy the part that matches

Revision and side identification are planned to reduce the risk of buying an unrelated gear or motor for a mount failure.

02

Keep the repair focused

The proposed first kit would address one measured structural fault instead of replacing larger assemblies by default.

03

Keep your own Loona

For a successful, eligible repair, an owner could retain the same robot; that outcome has not yet been demonstrated with this concept.

Picture the routine

Diagnose first. Match the revision. Repair only the right failure.

Here is how the proposed design would fit into your day.

  1. 01

Check warranty status and ask KEYi about official service before opening the robot.

  2. 02

If out of warranty, have a qualified repairer identify the failed part and the exact Loona revision.

  3. 03

If a future HipMount kit matches that diagnosed mount failure, the repairer would replace it and verify motion before normal use.

Where should we send updates if this idea moves forward?

If your out-of-warranty Loona had a confirmed compatible mount failure, would $49 for a measured mount and alignment aid feel worthwhile after comparing repair options?

Will this fix any broken Loona hip?

No. A hip symptom may come from a motor, gear, mount, wiring or another fault. The proposed first kit targets one confirmed mount failure on one measured hardware revision. Compatibility and repair outcome have not been verified.

Should I open a Loona that is still under warranty?

Start with KEYi support. Its current warranty policy excludes devices disassembled by the user and unauthorized repairs. The concept is aimed at a carefully diagnosed out-of-warranty repair; qualified service is preferable to guessing.

Are a motor, gears or Loona included?

No. The proposed first pack would contain a matched structural mount and an alignment aid only. A failed motor or gear requires a different part and diagnosis. Loona and installation service are not included.

Is HipMount made by KEYi or available now?

No. HipMount is an independent, unbuilt HomeRobotHQ concept, not endorsed by KEYi and not available for purchase. Joining expresses interest and permission for possible updates, without a purchase commitment.

What still needs to be tested?
  • HipMount is an independent, unbuilt concept, not for sale, reservation or manufacturer endorsement. Fit, durability and repair success have not been tested.
  • The proposed first kit is for one confirmed mount failure on one future-measured out-of-warranty Loona revision. It would not include a motor, gear, robot, battery or installation service.
  • KEYi's current warranty policy excludes owner-disassembled and unauthorized repairs. Contact official support first when coverage may apply; use a qualified repairer for any later independent work.
