ScreenLatch / For Reachy Mini ↗

Arcade on. Screen off. Reachy again.

ScreenLatch is a proposed removable mount for Reachy Mini owners who already have a working DIY arcade display. Give that screen a place on the robot — and a deliberate way to take it off again.

  • Intended first for Reachy Mini Lite and one measured ESP32-2432S028 display variant. Fit is not verified.
  • Proposed kit: padded body mount, closure, enclosed display carrier, release and open cable guide.
  • You supply the robot, display board, USB lead and working app setup. No electronics, arcade shell or game software included.

Free to join. No payment or commitment to buy.

Sound familiar?

A fun build does not have to become a permanent look.

If you want Reachy to wear an arcade screen for a session, then look like itself afterward, gluing an outer shell to the robot may be more commitment than you want.

A padded mount would close around a measured area of the body. Your enclosed screen slides into its front receiver; a release lets it come out, and the mount can come off too.

Designed with your day in mind

Make room for the next version of Reachy.

One mounting idea for makers who prefer temporary, changeable builds.

01

Change the setup

Designed to let the arcade screen come off between sessions without an adhesive attachment.

02

Keep the board enclosed

An original carrier would cover one specified display’s rear and provide a mechanical stop.

03

Keep the original robot

No factory holes, replacement shell or antenna changes are planned.

Picture the routine

Fit the mount. Slide in the screen. Release it later.

Here is how the proposed design would fit into your day.

  1. 01

Power off your working setup and fit the padded mount using its measured placement guide.

  2. 02

Slide in the enclosed display and route USB slack to your Lite host. Verify fit and motion clearance before use.

  3. 03

For removal, power down, unplug and release the carrier. The body mount comes off separately.

Is this a complete arcade kit?

No. It is a physical mount for a display you already know how to run. The first design study uses one ESP32-2432S028 variant connected by USB to the Lite host computer. You supply and configure the electronics, cable and software.

Does it replace Reachy’s shell?

No shell or antenna replacement is planned. The mount would use padded contact points and a removable closure, with no adhesive on the robot. Pressure, finish compatibility, ventilation and clearance need physical tests.

Will it fit Wireless or my existing arcade shell?

Neither is promised. Start with one identified Lite revision and one display board. This would be an original carrier, not a latch for every printed costume. Other models and enclosures need separate checks.

Can Reachy move while wearing it?

Only after the actual mount, total screen mass and USB slack pass clearance and loading checks. Until then, the prototype is for powered-off fitting. It is not a handle or a restraint.

Why not use a separate stand?

That is a good, simpler option with no load on Reachy. ScreenLatch is for owners who specifically want the display on the robot and value repeatable removal. A stand, reusable strap or the existing DIY build may be enough.

Can I buy it now?

Not yet. This is an unbuilt concept, not for sale. Joining is free, with no payment or purchase commitment. Final pricing and availability are not set; updates may follow if the concept progresses.

What still needs to be tested?
  • Intended Lite/display combination remains untested. You supply the robot, electronics, USB lead and working software.
  • No official arcade shell or software included. Adds no game functions and is not a carrying handle.
