LegCue / For Loona ↗

A bigger cue for the chair legs Loona misses.

LegCue is a proposed removable sleeve that makes selected thin furniture legs a broader target for Loona. Fit it to the furniture and keep your robot untouched.

  • A proposed four-sleeve set with soft liners and reusable straps.
  • Fits to selected furniture legs, with no robot modification.
  • Removable fitting without adhesive on your furniture.

An owner brings two lined sleeve halves around a chair leg and closes the strap while Loona stands nearby; no avoidance outcome is depicted.

  • A change to the legThe proposed sleeve makes this narrow target broader. Nothing attaches to Loona.
  • Open, fit, removeTwo halves, soft liners and a reusable strap are shown. Placement is schematic; final sizing and the sensing benefit need testing.

Sound familiar?

The same chair. The same bump.

If Loona keeps meeting a thin chair leg head-on, you may find yourself moving furniture or watching every approach. A face bumper can soften contact. LegCue explores making the leg easier to detect before contact.

Picture a rounded sleeve that opens around the troublesome leg, grips with a soft liner and closes with a reusable strap. Start with that spot; remove it when you move the furniture. The goal is fewer interruptions without changing Loona.

Designed with your day in mind

A small change to the furniture. A simpler goal for play.

The design focuses on the specific leg Loona keeps contacting. These are the intended advantages to put through a real-home test.

01

Keep your room familiar

The goal is to address a selected problem leg without permanently rearranging the room.

02

Leave Loona untouched

The proposed sleeve fits to furniture, away from the robot's sensors, wheels and factory parts.

03

Fit, remove, move

Soft liners and reusable straps are intended for fitting and removal without adhesive on the leg.

Picture the routine

Fit it to the troublesome spot.

Here is how the proposed design would fit into your day.

  1. 01

Identify the leg Loona repeatedly contacts, after checking current updates and official setup guidance.

  2. 02

Open the two sleeve halves around that leg and close the strap at a height established by testing.

  3. 03

Check Loona's behavior there before fitting the remaining sleeves. Remove the sleeves when moving or cleaning the furniture.

What would come in the set?

Four split sleeves, soft liner inserts, reusable fastening straps and a fitting card. Loona and furniture are not included. The final sizes and contents will depend on prototype testing.

Would it fit my furniture and Loona?

The first design is intended for selected narrow, stationary indoor furniture legs in a Loona play area. Leg shapes, mounting height, finish compatibility and Loona revisions still need testing; no universal fit is claimed.

Will it stop Loona bumping into things?

That is the main question the prototype must answer. A larger target may help with thin legs, but no collision reduction has been demonstrated. LegCue would not protect stairs or ledges, solve every navigation issue, or repair a faulty sensor.

Should I try Loona's settings first?

Yes. Use current firmware and official setup guidance first, including saved recharge routes where relevant. If that solves your problem, an accessory may be unnecessary.

What still needs to be tested?
  • Collision reduction, mounting height and fit on particular legs or Loona revisions have not been tested.
  • Furniture-finish compatibility, retention and household suitability need prototype checks.
  • Use current setup guidance first. This would not protect stairs/ledges or repair a sensor fault.
