QuietGlide / For Loona ↗

Keep the playful stomps. Soften the sound.

QuietGlide is a proposed front-wheel cover for Loona: a soft cushion inside, a smooth band outside. The goal is less floor clatter while preserving the sideways movement Loona needs to turn.

  • Proposed pair for Loona's passive front wheels; revision fit needs checking.
  • Two cover sets and a fit-check card; Loona supplied separately.
  • Designed for smooth indoor hard floors, with removable fitting.

A proposed QuietGlide cover closes around the visible front wheel of a schematic Loona on a hard floor; no noise or turning result is shown.

Sound familiar?

A little robot. A surprisingly loud floor.

If Loona's front wheels knock against your hard floor, soft covers can be appealing. But extra grip can leave the robot struggling to turn. You want quieter play without trading away its movement.

Picture a removable cover that cushions the wheel underneath a smooth outer band. The cushion handles the knock; the band is designed to slide sideways during a turn. No changes to Loona's motors or software.

Designed with your day in mind

A cushion where it helps. A smooth surface where it matters.

The design aims to preserve Loona's lively movement while changing how its front wheels meet your floor.

01

A softer meeting with the floor

An inner cushion is designed to soften front-wheel knocks without covering the floor in a new play mat.

02

Room to turn

A smooth outer band aims to preserve the sideways sliding that grippy front covers can hinder.

03

Keep the factory wheels

The removable pair is intended to fit around the front wheels, with no motor or software modification.

Picture the routine

Fit the pair. Check the movement. Enjoy the room.

Here is how the proposed design would fit into your day.

  1. 01

Check the intended wheel revision and turn Loona off before fitting the cover pair.

  2. 02

Seat the soft sleeve and close its captured outer band on each passive front wheel. Leave the rear drive wheels unchanged and check clearance and retention.

  3. 03

Try a short supervised session on your smooth indoor floor. Remove the covers if movement, docking or retention changes.

What would be included?

Two front-wheel cover sets, each with a compliant inner sleeve and captured smooth band halves, plus a fitting and inspection card. Loona is supplied separately. The closure and fitting routine still need development.

Would these fit my Loona?

The first version would target one measured front-wheel revision on smooth indoor hard floors. Early and later wheels may differ. Sizes, clearances and dock compatibility have not been verified; a universal fit is not promised.

How is this different from a soft wheel cover?

An ordinary soft cover puts its cushioning material directly against the floor. QuietGlide separates that cushion from a smoother outer band, aiming to preserve sideways sliding during turns.

How much quieter would it be?

There is no tested noise reduction yet. The prototype must show a noticeable benefit while preserving turning, docking and secure retention. It would not quiet the speaker, fix grinding motors or guarantee that neighbors cannot hear Loona.

Should I try something else first?

Yes. Try the current robot without covers, check official updates and diagnose abnormal grinding. An existing cover or suitable play surface may already solve the issue; no new accessory is needed if that works well for you.

What still needs to be tested?
  • Noise reduction, turning performance and specific wheel-revision fit have not been measured.
  • Retention, floor marking, clearance and docking require prototype checks.
  • Not a motor repair, carpet traction upgrade or guarantee of silence for neighbors.
