Decision 01 / charging
Automatic docking changes whether remote access stays useful.
A mobile camera that runs out of power away from its charger becomes a stationary object. EBO Air 2S and Air 2 can return to a dock, which supports repeated remote use. Air 2S doubles the listed battery capacity. ROLA Mini relies on manual magnetic charging but compensates with a much longer standby claim.
Loona is a companion first. Confirm the exact bundle and charging behavior instead of assuming every package includes the same dock or accessories.
Decision 02 / environment
No small mobile robot makes stairs disappear.
Obstacle sensing, tracking, and patrol intelligence are not guarantees against floor drops, water, cables, thick rugs, or a closed door. ROLA Mini documentation is explicit that it lacks automatic obstacle and fall prevention. Both EBO models still need a controlled route.
Test every room while present and use physical barriers at stairs. A mobile camera should never be the only way to supervise a child, vulnerable adult, pet, or emergency.
- Block stairs and balconies physically
- Keep water, cords, and narrow traps out of the route
- Test thresholds, rug edges, and dock approaches
- Have a fixed-camera or human fallback for important monitoring
Decision 03 / recordings
Choose the recording model before enabling alerts.
Both EBO Air models and ROLA Mini support microSD storage, with cloud options or app services affecting access and history. Loona focuses more on interaction and remote viewing. Decide whether you need live viewing, event clips, or retained recordings before turning on every feature.
Use the shortest practical retention period, narrow guest access, and review who can drive or view the robot.
Decision 04 / shortlist
Buy for the monitoring routine, not the novelty of movement.
Choose EBO Air 2S when automatic docking, higher-resolution video, and recurring one-floor check-ins are central. EBO Air 2 is the compact value option if official stock returns. Choose ROLA Mini when long standby and flexible placement matter more than autonomy. Choose Loona when companion interaction, games, and personality justify a higher price and lower camera resolution.
